Cornelius Nepos

AbstractCornelius Nepos (ca. 100–24BCE) was a Roman author of the late republican period. He is primarily known for his biographies of Greek, Roman, and Carthaginian personalities. Originally from Gallia Cisalpina, he was well known in Rome's literary circles; he wrote large biographies of his friends Cicero and Titus Pomponius Atticus, of which only the latter survives. Another friend, Catullus, dedicated verses to him.
