VEGAN PRODUCTS: AN ALTERNATIVE DIET FOR OBESITY
View through CrossRef
This research aims to explore the potential of vegan products as an alternative dietary option to counter the rising epidemic of obesity. The study
seeks to understand the nutritional value, benets, and practicality of adopting a vegan lifestyle for weight management and overall health. The
research is grounded on the premise of nutritional science and metabolic processes. Utilizing the theories of caloric intake, energy expenditure, and
the physiological effects of plant-based nutrients, the study delves deep into how vegan diets can inuence weight and health outcomes. A
systematic review of peer-reviewed articles, clinical trials, and case studies related to vegan diets, obesity, and weight management was
undertaken. Qualitative narratives were explored to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject. Results indicate that vegan products
offer a lower caloric density while being rich in essential nutrients, thereby promoting satiety and weight loss. Adopters of the vegan diet were
found to have a reduced risk of obesity-related health issues. However, it's essential for individuals to ensure they are obtaining all necessary
nutrients, as some deciencies are more common in vegan diets. Embracing vegan products can offer a sustainable and healthy alternative for
weight management. Besides personal health benets, a shift towards veganism can have positive environmental implications, given the lower
carbon footprint of plant-based diets. Socially, it can lead to reduced medical burdens related to obesity and its complications. This review stands
out in its holistic approach, not only examining the efcacy of vegan products in weight management but also addressing its broader impacts on
health, environment, and society.
