La prensa chilena y el terrorismo italiano durante el régimen cívico-militar: 1973-1981

Es bien sabido cómo desde los Sesenta en Italia los acontecimientos políticos chilenos se interpretaron para extraer supuestas lecciones. En Chile ocurrió lo mismo, sin embargo, tras el golpe de Estado las interpretaciones cambiaron y se intentó extraer nuevos significados para la afirmación interna del régimen cívico-militar. El presente trabajo quiere reconstruir la mirada de los periódicos chilenos sobre el desarrollo del terrorismo en Italia y su crisis política entre 1973 y 1981. Entre el ascenso de Pinochet y el ocaso en Italia del grupo más conocido de la extrema izquierda, las Brigate Rosse, la prensa habló de los acontecimientos italianos, de los atentados, de la naturaleza de los grupos terroristas y de la crisis político-social del país. Los diarios aprovecharon para perseguir paralelos con Italia y avalar la cruzada del régimen y su proyecto refundacional. La prensa intentó, además, consolidar el imaginario sobre la subversión y aportar pruebas a la tesis de la intervención militar como salvación. Asimismo, el terrorismo y las dificultades políticas de Italia, en fin, brindaron la oportunidad de atacar a las democracias liberales y su decadencia, como ocurrió de manera evidente durante el secuestro de Aldo Moro.   It is well known how, since the 1960s in Italy, Chilean political events were interpreted in order to draw supposed lessons. The same thing happened in Chile, but after the golpe, interpretations changed and attempts were made to draw new meanings for the internal affirmation of the civil-military regime. This paper aims to reconstruct the view of Chilean newspapers on the development of terrorism in Italy and its political crisis from 1973 to 1981. Between Pinochet’s rise to power and the decline in Italy of the best-known extreme left-wing group, the Brigate Rosse, the press reported on Italian events, the attacks, the nature of the terrorist groups, and the country’s political and social crisis. The newspapers took advantage of this to draw parallels with Italy and endorse the regime’s crusade and its project of refounding the country. The press also attempted to consolidate the image of subversion and provide evidence for the thesis of military intervention as salvation. Likewise, terrorism and Italy’s political difficulties provided an opportunity to attack liberal de-mocracies and their decline, as was evident during the kidnapping of Aldo Moro.
