En este artículo proponemos el análisis comparativo del film Guernica (Alain Resnais, 1950), y del célebre lienzo de Picasso, así como de parte de su obra tanto anterior como posterior a dicho cuadro, y que es usada como estrategia expresiva por este documental. De este modo, veremoscomo Resnais toma la propia figura de Picasso como punto de partida, e interpreta su vida y su obra en términos socio-políticos, para ofrecernos una personalísima visión de los hechos acaecidos en la villa vasca de Guernica en 1937.
