Abstract
This Chapter focuses on the analysis of Protocol No. 30 of the ECT, as introduced by the Amsterdam Treaty. Community institutions and Member States adopted a number of acts when subsidiarity was introduced by the Maastricht Treaty (the Communication of the Commission to the Council and the European Parliament on the Principle of Subsidiarity of October 1992, the Overall Approach to the Subsidiarity Principle of December 1992, and the Interinstitutional Agreement signed by Commission, the Council and the European Parliament on Procedures for Implementing the Subsidiarity Principle October 1993).
