Comparison of Choroidal Thickness in Controlled and Hypertensive Patients By Using OCT
View through CrossRef
The objective of the study was to assess the choroidal thickness in control and hypertensive patients. To check the effects of hypertension on the thickness of the choroid by using the instrument, Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT).Methodology: The study design was a Prospective comparative cross‑sectional study. 70 eyes of 35 subjects in the hypertensive group (A) and 70 eyes of 35 subjects in the control group (B) in the age group of 35–60 years were subjected. The thickness of the choroid was measured at the sub‑fovea region, nasal and temporal to the fovea, with enhanced depth imaging mode of OCT. Systolic and Diastolic blood pressure were measured. Results: The choroidal thickness at subfoveal, temporal and nasal to fovea was significantly(p value 0.001) decreased in the hypertensive group. Choroidal thickness at subfoveal, nasal and temporal to fovea (252.34 ± 53.94 μm, 248.25±65.47,249.21±64.27 respectively ) as compared to the control group choroidal thickness at subfoveal, nasal and temporal to fovea (305.35±54.78, 289.87±56.07, 298.50±54.06 respectively). Conclusion: The study showed that choroidal thickness was decreased in hypertensive subjects as compared to control subjects. We should check the choroidal thickness in hypertensive patients to reduce the chances of disease progression in the choroid.

Title: Comparison of Choroidal Thickness in Controlled and Hypertensive Patients By Using OCT
Description:
The objective of the study was to assess the choroidal thickness in control and hypertensive patients.
To check the effects of hypertension on the thickness of the choroid by using the instrument, Optical Coherence Tomography(OCT).
Methodology: The study design was a Prospective comparative cross‑sectional study.
Results: The choroidal thickness at subfoveal, temporal and nasal to fovea was significantly(p value 0.
001) decreased in the hypertensive group.
Choroidal thickness at subfoveal, nasal and temporal to fovea (252.

25±65.

35±54.

87±56.

Conclusion: The study showed that choroidal thickness was decreased in hypertensive subjects as compared to control subjects.
We should check the choroidal thickness in hypertensive patients to reduce the chances of disease progression in the choroid.
