Discharge readiness and quality of discharge teaching among diabetic patients
View through CrossRef
This study examined the status quo and influencing factors of discharge readiness and quality of discharge teaching among patients with diabetes. Using Meleis' transformation theory and Pender's health promotion model as the theoretical framework, this study employed descriptive correlation and regression analysis. Convenience sampling was used to cover 167 inpatients with diabetes, and the self-designed general information questionnaire, readiness for hospital discharge scale, and quality of discharge teaching scale were used for analysis. The results showed that the readiness for discharge and the quality of discharge teaching among patients with diabetes were at a moderate level. The quality of discharge teaching, age, and family per capita monthly income are factors affecting discharge readiness. Diabetic patients with higher quality discharge guidance, younger age, and higher per capita monthly household income have higher readiness for discharge. Further research is recommended to add more variables and sample size to deeply explore the discharge readiness and influencing factors of diabetic patients to provide reference information for formulating a complete discharge preparation service plan.
