Marxism and Intellectuals in the United States

By use of some observations by Hannah Arendt, the argument of the book is reviewed. The assessment of the experience by Daniel Aaron is considered in light of the theoretical work of Raymond Williams about alignment and commitment, and the experience of Philip Rahv and Modern Occasions is examined more fully. The problems and promises of Marxist commitment are briefly summarized.
