Determination of the exact date of the death of Queen Tamar of Georgia

Despite numerous scientific studies in past years, the exact dates (year, month, day, day of week) of the deaths of neither Queen Tamar of Georgia nor her husband King David Soslani have yet been precisely determined. In Georgian historiography, the death dates of Tamar's father, King Giorgi III (Tuesday, March 27, 1184), and Tamar's son and heir to the throne, Lasha-Giorgi (Wednesday, January 18, 1223), have long been known. To address this issue, we compiled a summary table correlating the years of the Julian calendar with the January and March calendars of the Georgian Great Chronicon (see the Tables here). Based on these tables, we have for the first time determined the day of David Soslani's death (January 30, Wednesday, 1208) and the day of Queen Tamar's passing (February 2, Wednesday, 1211). We have also determined that Queen Tamar was born on Sunday, May 1, 1166, and lived for 44 years and nine months.
