ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITY RECOGNITION AND EVALUATION WITHIN THE GROUNDNUT VALUE CHAIN OF RAJASTHAN’S AGRICULTURAL ECONOMY

View through CrossRef
The role of agricultural value chains in rural development has gained increasing attention in recent years, particularly in the context of developing countries. This study analyzes the role of groundnut value chains in rural development in the Indian state of Rajasthan, focusing on production, processing, distribution, and marketing. Groundnut is an important crop in Rajasthan, providing a source of income for small-scale farmers and contributing to food security. The groundnut value chain in Rajasthan is a complex system involving multiple actors and activities, including production, processing, and marketing. This study analyzes the groundnut value chain in Rajasthan, focusing on the key actors, activities, and challenges involved in the value chain. The study employs a mixed-method approach and data was collected through interviews with farmers, traders, processors, and government officials, as well as a review of secondary literature. Our findings suggest that the groundnut value chain in Rajasthan faces a range of challenges, including low productivity, poor quality control, and limited access to credit and markets. The study concludes that addressing these challenges will require a coordinated effort involving multiple stakeholders, including farmers, traders, processors, and government agencies. Groundnut value chains play a critical role in rural development in Rajasthan, providing income, employment, and food security for small-scale farmers. However, the value chain is characterized by a range of challenges, including low productivity, poor quality control, and limited access to credit and markets.
