Dikē as Global World Order: An Orphic Inheritance in Aeschylus?
View through CrossRef
Abstract:
The figure of Dikē in Aeschylus is not exactly the same as in Hesiod: it has a cosmic dimension; it grants also afterlife to individuals, while not excluding salvation. These features match several Orphic fragments and testimonies, especially those quoted by Greek philosophers. Therefore, an Orphic influence on Aeschylus would make sense; moreover, beyond Orphism, an Indo-European inheritance should be considered.

Multiple dikes make eruptions easy
Dikes supply magma to most volcanic eruptions. Understanding how propagating dikes may, or may not, reach the surface is thus one of the fundamental tasks for volcanology. Many, pe...

Numerical Investigation of Flow Around Partially and Fully Vegetated Submerged Spur Dike
This study investigates the role of emerged vegetation in enhancing the performance of submerged spur dikes for better flow control and bank protection in river systems. The resear...

Coupled Hydro-Geomechanical modelling of dike breaching
Dike breaching following overtopping event is considered as one of the most common failure mechanisms. Understanding this process is critical, as breaches typically result in cata...

<p>Wave overtopping on grass-covered dikes results in erosion of the dike cover. Once the dike cover is eroded, the core will be washed away and the dike breaches, le...

EFFECTS OF DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO T-SHAPED SPUR DIKES ON FLOW PATTERN IN A 90 DEGREE BEND USING NUMERICAL MODEL
Spur dike is a type of flow control structure. Certain changes occur in flow pattern due to installation of a dike (especially a T-shaped spur dike). This paper studied the effects...
