Cobalt Polyazines
View through CrossRef
Cobalt polyazines are inorganic-organic hybrid coordination complexes composed of cobalt metal ion bonded to nitrogen containing organic compounds. Cobalt polyazines and their derivatives have played a remarkable role in various fields, as observed in the latest literature. Here we discussed different types of polyazine organic molecular structures utilised as ligands for binding to cobalt ions either in the terminal fashion or as bridging ligand to develop multinuclear cobalt complexes. Cobalt complexes with bidentate, tridentate, tetradentate and pentadentate polyazines are highlighted along with synthesis details. Polyazine ligand based polymeric cobalt complexes also discussed. Applications of cobalt polyazine complexes for biological DNA binding activity, catalytic centre for various reactions such as CO2 reduction, hydrogen generation and hydroboration are also mentioned. Cobalt-polyazine systems may have tremendous applications in the near future.
