Literature Search on the Potential Antioxidant Activity of All Organs of Kersen (Muntingia calabura L.)

Abstract. Kersen plant (Muntingia calabura L.) is one of the plants that has a natural source of antioxidants, such as flavonoids, phenolic compounds, tannins, saponins and triterpenoids. These compounds work by binding free radicals that can damage body cells, can prevent various degenerative diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and premature aging. Research using the systematic literature search method aims to find information about the potential antioxidant activity of the entire kersen plant such as roots, bark, leaves, flowers and fruits. The literature search was conducted by looking for literature sources in the form of journals on online media. Collecting data, antioxidant activity test methods and various kinds of solvents used, the content of phytochemical compounds that have the potential as antioxidants, such as flavonoids, polyphenols, and vitamin C. Based on the literature search, it can be seen the data on the results of (Inhibitory Concentration 50%) IC50 from the kersen plant parts. Abstrak. Tanaman kersen (Muntingia calabura L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki sumber antioksidan alami, seperti senyawa flavonoid, fenolik, tanin, saponin dan triterpenoid. Senyawa-senyawa ini bekerja dengan cara mengikat radikal bebas yang dapat merusak sel-sel tubuh, dapat mencegah berbagai penyakit degeneratif, seperti kanker, penyakit jantung, dan penuaan dini. Penelitian dengan metode penelusuran pustaka sistematis bertujuan untuk mencari informasi mengenai potensi aktivitas antioksidan dari keseluruhan tanaman kersen seperti akar, kulit batang, daun, bunga dan buah kersen. Penulusuran pustaka dilakukan dengan mencari sumber pustaka berupa jurnal pada media online. Mengumpulkan data, metode uji aktivitas antioksidan dan berbagai macam pelarut yang digunakan, kandungan senyawa fitokimia yang berpotensi sebagai antioksidan, seperti flavonoid, polifenol, dan vitamin C. Berdasarkan penulusuran pustaka dapat dilihat data hasil (Inhibitory Concentration 50%) IC50 dari bagian tanaman kersen.
