The article analyzes Inga Iwasiów’s Chronicles of Resistance and Love and Wioletta Grzegorzewska’sWolf River through the prism of polyphony, pointing to the two writers’ strategies of breakingtaboo topics and interrogating the habits of reading. Through images of chaos, both Iwasiów andGrzegorzewska show the disintegration of identity and the consequences of the loss of stability.By addressing diffi cult topics (such as among others: the loss of a loved one, widespread hatred,chauvinism, COVID-19 pandemic, toxic marriage, domestic violence or hardships of emigration)they present successful efforts to overcome a crisis and to build one’s life anew.
