W artykule przedstawiono postać Mikołaja Karpia (ok. 1559–1621), posesjonata dóbr Nowosiółki w powiecie wołkowyskim, Dublany Raducicze w powiecie grodzieńskim oraz Kurtowian i Rykijowa na Żmudzi. Ponadto celem jest zaprezentowanie czynników umożliwiających realizację powiatowej kariery urzędniczej oraz przybliżenie powodów migracji na Żmudź.
