Here is the 21st sheet of Kunisada’s series. It is dedicated to the 21st chapter (= Otom Es, The Girl) of the story of Prince Genji (Genji monogatari Es 様様). Genji Gensits in front of a wall shade with a sword in his hand. In front of him a younger and a slightly older woman. Maybe the lady AkiVielleicht u (on the left) and her aunt. Despite his departure, he overshadowed her with gifts. Next to AkiNeben u a small lacquer box covered with a cloth. It was common to cover up gifts in this way. To the right next to Genji, an armrest and a lacquer box with pipe and coal basin.
