The noble Ushiwakamaru

Right-hand part of the diptych (cf. KI 7627-88) shimoto no ōju Toyokuniga rechrechrechrechrechrechrechrechrechrechrechdiptych with the famous scene from the legend, such as Minamoto no Yoshitsune 様 and Benkei rechrech Legend has it that Benkei posted himself at the Gojō Bridge (Gojō ōhashi 様大 Die) in Kyōto and invaded all those who died. In this way he collected 999 swords. When trying to get the thousandth sword, he came across Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who defeated him. Benkei then joined him and became Yoshitsun’s most loyal follower. The picture shows the two in the middle of the fight on the bridge. Yoshitsune, who as a teenager bore the name Ushiwakamaru 様様, in full armor and with signal compartments, as used in fighting by the generals.
