Sufi Songs of Assam: Zikir and Zari

Zikir and Zari represent a style of province; they appear to be a gaggle of pious songs current among the Muslims of Assam. The Zikir and Zari unit of measurement similar in tune, Zikir songs embody the teaching of Islam whereas the Zari songs unit of measurement supported the tragic episodes of the city tragedy. Zikir The term Zikir, derived from Arabic “Ziqr”, literary suggests that singing or memory Allah’s name. It applies every to the style and to the occasion of its performance, the pious assembly of theism mysticism or mysticism in province. Zikir, took root in province throughout the seventeenth century among the sociocultural framework instituted by devotion movement of Saint Srimanta Sankardev (1449-1568) and below the patronage of Ahom (1200-1800 kings).
