Literature Study of Microlearning Infusion in English Language Learning

Microlearning has gained increasing attention as a flexible, technology-enhanced instructional approach in English Language Learning (ELL). However, research on how it is integrated into ELL and its effects on learners remains limited. This study aims to investigate (1) how microlearning is infused into ELL, and (2) how it impacts student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. Employing a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through semi- structured interviews with five university students who had experienced microlearning activities. An interview guide with open-ended questions served as the research instrument, and data were analyzed thematically using coding to identify recurring patterns and themes. The study concludes that microlearning offers an effective learner-centered approach in ELL, especially when incorporated into a blended learning framework. Its implications suggest that educators should strategically design microlearning activities that align with learning goals and provide institutional support to overcome implementation barriers.
