Comparative Evaluation of Sead and Ariadne Protocols for Secure Ad Hoc Networks

In this paper, we propose to analyse the performance and/or the security features of Secure Efficient Ad hoc Distance Vector (SEAD) and on-demand secure ad hoc network routing Protocol (Ariadne) under some scenarios in ad hoc networks. This study aims to assess the performance of associated different protocols in order to provide secure communication while minimizing overhead and maintaining network efficiency. We discuss SEAD and Ariadne's technical details, covering key security mechanisms such as symmetric-key cryptography, digital signatures, and trust-based routing. The evaluation process includes sandboxing NS-3 to model ad hoc network scenarios, varying scale of the topology, introducing movement in nodes and traffic models, and evaluating the protocols' performance (packet delivery ratio, packet overheads, delays and byte overheads) [Citation needed]. The results show that SEAD and Ariadne are able to withstand against standard security threats. While SEAD outperforms on the packet delivery ratio in moderate-to-high density networks, Ariadne provides less end-to-end delays in low-mobility situations.
