Invasive Alien Plant Species in Kondaveedu Hills, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh State

Common Invasive Alien Plant Species likely occurring in Kondaveedu Fort. Based on the ecology of the invasive flora reported from Andhra Pradesh, the following species are commonly expected: examples Mesosphaerum suaveolens, Neltuma juliflora, Parthenium hysterophorus, Lantana camara, Leucaena leucocephala, Mimosa pudica. These species are among the recognized invasive alien flora of India and are widely distributed in Andhra Pradesh. Results: During study of sacred grove of Andhra Pradesh State, India various field trips were conducted and were GIS Photographic from various natural populations during the period 2018-2026. Plant Species Kondaveedu Fort identifications activities data and plants specimens collected flowering or fruiting seasons. Specimens critically observed and identified. In the present study, a total of 47 Invasive Alien species were founded from Kondaveedu fort, Palnadu District, Andhra Pradesh. These 47 Alien Species belong to 41 Genera and 17 familes. Previously A total of 553 wild and naturalized taxa belongs to 329 genera and 87 families, the latter taxa identified following APG IV Classification. (M.C. Naik & Siva.P, 2025). Conclusion: Kondaveedu Hills, situated in the Eastern Ghats of Palnadu District, are an ecologically significant landscape supporting diverse vegetation, including tropical dry deciduous forests, scrub forests, rocky habitats, and numerous medicinally important plant species. However, the increasing spread of invasive alien plant species has emerged as one of the major threats to the ecological integrity and biodiversity of this region. Species such as Lantana camara, Chromolaena odorata, Parthenium hysterophorus, Neltuma juliflora, Mesosphaerum suaveolens and Ageratum conyzoides have established extensive populations, particularly in disturbed habitats, forest margins, roadsides, and abandoned lands.
