Conjunctivitis-Otitis Syndrome

To the Editor.—
Bodor's report1 concerning conjunctivitis-otitis syndrome concludes that 73% of patients with purulent conjunctivitis concurrently had otitis media. He also remarks that in families with more than one child, 47% of siblings were affected simultaneously or within a one-month period. If valid, these data certainly add to our knowledge concerning bacterial conjunctivitis; however, I believe the study contains some flaws which seriously affect its credibility.
First, and most important, the study did not examine all patients with purulent conjunctivitis who were seen during a 1-year period.
