Deux brouillons : le croquis et la maquette

Although chaotic at first glance, the architect Louis-Hippolyte Lebas 'sketchbook includes drawings that were made in the development of a number of projects. By changing the orientation of the drawing on the page, the album is structured in a way that isolates the projects from each other. A detailed examination of the drawings relating to the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette church reveals a certain number of variants the knowledge of which enables us to better understand the final project. The creative process of the architect Peter Eisenman is founded on various methods, each with its own specificity. The use of the model, together with the computer and the paper drawing, enables Eisenman to treat three-dimensional space in an altogether original way. Three models made during the design of the rooms for the exhibition of his work at the CCA in 1 994 reveal the characteristics of this working method.
