Image of the village seen from the hill - cross in close plan. Field Research in Bucovina (1980)
View through Europeana Collections
Putna is a commune in Suceava County, Bucovina being located in the north of Suceava County, in Bucovina Obcines. The image presents a panorama of a village taken from a nearby hill, on which a large stone cross prevails. The cross is mounted on a large stone trapezoidal post over which four rows of brick were laid. Above it we gave up a row of brick so narrowing the top of the post, on which we fixed the large stone cross. Possible to be a cross erected in memory of the fallen heroes in the many fights that took place on these lands loaded with history.
