A COMPARATIVE CLINICAL STUDY OF MANSHILADI ANJANA AND CHANDANADI ANJANA IN PRATHAMA PATALAGATA TIMIRA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SIMPLE MYOPIA: A RESEARCH PROTOCOL

View through CrossRef
Background: Timira is an important Drishtigata Roga described in Ayurvedic classics. In Prathama Patalagata Timira, the characteristic manifestation is Avyakta Darshana, or indistinct perception of objects. On the basis of clinical similarity, particularly defective distant vision, this condition may be studied with special reference to simple myopia.¹–⁴ Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of Manshiladi Anjana in comparison with Chandanadi Anjana in the management of Prathama Patalagata Timira with special reference to simple myopia. Materials and Methods: The proposed study is an open-label, double-arm, randomized controlled clinical study. A total of 100 completed participants are planned to be enrolled, with 50 participants in each group; additional recruitment may be undertaken to compensate for anticipated dropout. Group A will receive Manshiladi Anjana, whereas Group B will receive Chandanadi Anjana according to the study protocol. Patients aged 12–30 years with clinical features of Prathama Patalagata Timira and refractive correction up to −3 DS will be included. Subjective parameters include Avyakta Darshana, Netra Ayasa, Shiro Abhitapa, and Netra Srava. Distant visual acuity assessed using Snellen's chart will be considered as the principal objective parameter. Conclusion: This study is designed to generate comparative clinical evidence regarding two Ayurvedic Anjana formulations in Prathama Patalagata Timira. As this manuscript is based on the research protocol, no therapeutic superiority or clinical effectiveness is claimed until completion of the trial and appropriate statistical analysis.
