Minstrels and Kings
View through CrossRef
This chapter describes how the RSS (the Hindu nationalist organization), the BJP (the party), and Vidya Bharati (the school network) cooperate with and support each other. These conclusions may be summarized thus: the BJP supports Vidya Bharati with patronage, ranging from donations of the party politicians for particular schools to at least letting the schools function. Vidya Bharati, in turn, is important for the RSS and the BJP because it spreads their ideology, making it reach wider audiences, and thus helping it become a part of mainstream politics.
