From Sages to Sieges
View through CrossRef
This chapter focuses on the teaching in Vidya Bharati schools in terms of the contents of the organization’s textbooks in Hindi. The textbooks used for the social science courses and the moral education course in elementary schools, as well as question sheets for Vidya Bharati’s own extracurricular examination were found to be more infused with Hindu nationalist propaganda. Hence, more space has been devoted to analysing them. The chapter ends with conclusions on how the teaching of history in Vidya Bharati schools fits within the overall Hindu nationalist narrative.
