Catastrophe Dynamics of Dust-Cloud Ignition Phenomena

View through CrossRef
This paper takes ignition and quenching phenomena of a dust-cloud explosion system as an example to illustrate the application prospect of catastrophe theory in dust explosion science. Through comparative study on catastrophe dynamics of a dust-cloud explosion system under different heat loss models, the significance of catastrophe dynamics of radiation effect in igniting behavior of a dust explosion system is indicated. It is also pointed out that a simplified representation of igniting process model may possibly change catastrophe set’s topological structure and stationary state structure of a dust explosion system, and therefore may have an important influence on realizing igniting process laws. The statement may be useful for understanding many other discontinuity phenomena widely existent in objective world system.
