Biological Activity of Aggregated γ-Globulin

View through CrossRef
Summary A single injection of aggregated human and rabbit γ-globulin, obtained by coupling with bis-diazotized benzidine, induced Arthus-like reactions in normal guinea pigs. The aggregated γ-globulin and soluble BSA-anti-BSA complexes were comparable on a weight basis with respect to their biologic activity. The activity of aggregated γ-globulin was dependent on the animal species from which the γ-globulin was derived. Neither aggregated bovine nor chicken γ-globulin showed activity. Horse γ-globulin induced the skin reaction upon aggregation, although it was less active than the aggregated human and rabbit γ-globulins. Aggregated human γ-globulin prepared by heating and by coupling with bis-diazotized benzidine induced erythema-wheal reactions in humans.
