Towards a formal semantics for descriptions of altered perceptual phenomenology

View through CrossRef
Altered states of consciousness have long been a topic scientific investigation. They include states such as dreaming and hypnosis. Other altered states of consciousness, particularly those induced by psychedelics, include alterations in perception. These altered states of consciousness have seen an increase in academic research. Deep Dream is a popular computer vision algorithm that replicates the visual alterations experienced under psychedelics, and natural language processing is used to reveal patterns in personal narratives of altered states of consciousness. However, there yes yet to be a formalism for describing altered states of consciousness. In this paper, we use an extension of type theory known as Type Theory with Records to create a formal framework that establishes a common system for describing the altered perceptual phenomenology associated with altered states of consciousness.

Description:
Altered states of consciousness have long been a topic scientific investigation.
They include states such as dreaming and hypnosis.
