Rozwój semantyczny kontynuantów prasłowiańskiego leksemu *kvasъ w językach słowiańskich

This article presents an analysis of dictionary materials from individual Slavic languages, conducted within the framework of the XI volume of the Słownik prasłowiański (Proto-Slavic Dictionary). The research focuses on the development of the entry *kvasъ. The creators of this lexicon aim to perform a semantic reconstruction of the word investigated. The collected dictionary material distinguished individual meanings that recurred within specific semantic fields. The semantic development of continuants of the Proto-Slavic lexeme *kvasъ in contemporary Slavic languages is analyzed in this text. The article attempts to answer the question as to what extent the semantics of the words studied, recorded in historical and dialectal sources, as well as in contemporary literary Slavic languages, can be identified with the state of the Proto-Slavic lexicon. A key aspect involved is the distinguishing of the oldest meanings from those that arose through later innovations. The article also addresses the issue of how Proto-Slavic semantics influenced the meanings established in individual Slavic languages.
