According to Rooses Rubens' canvas is a workshop work repainted by the artist in the essential parts. Both Witdoeck’s engraving and this one differ in small things with respect to the original fabric: above the angel on the left another angel is missing; under the cloud, also on the left, the little head of a little angel is missing and the head of an apostle has been added; above the Virgin’s head a piece of the frame as if it were an arch.
