Poems in Space: A Poetry Masterclass

Engaging the poetry masterclass “Poems in Space:Eau de Cologne/sour theater” that took place in a masterlevelstudio-course of architecture, this paper examinesthe role of poetry in exploring the stories of a place and inbuilding students’ capacity for storytelling. The masterclasswas a collaboration between an architect and a poet and builton pedagogical precedents that have looked into poetry andpoetic language from an architectural perspective. The paperpresents this theoretical underpinning and then proceeds todiscuss the way the masterclass unfolded, both in terms ofmethodology and assignments.
