Natural toothpastes have received little attention in Norway, and there is no data on their usage among the population. It is crucial for dental health professionals to know the contents of natural toothpastes and the health consequences of their use, so they can provide clear guidance to patients. This article presents an overview of natural additives in natural toothpastes and evaluates whether these additives can promote oral health. Finally, potential harmful consequences for dental health of using natural toothpastes, as well as caries prevention measures that can be implemented to avoid such consequences, are discussed.
