Investigation of Mechanical Properties of Fibre-Reinforced Grouts for Micropile Application
View through CrossRef
Micropiles are used to enhance the capacity of existing foundations and to support a lightly loaded new structure. Recently, there is an interest in using micropiles to support heavy structures due to their advantages related to constructability, even in remote and restricted access sites, ground improvement effects and economic efficiency. In particular, hollow bar micropile (HBMP) is a promising technique, which can carry a considerable amount of axial loads. However, due to their small diameter, micropiles lateral capacity is limited, which restricts their use in applications that impose large lateral loading on the foundation.
