Research Progress of Improvement of Chinese Herbal Medicines Quality by Plant Growth-promoting Bacteria

View through CrossRef
As the raw material of traditional Chinese medicine industry, medicinal plants are the source of the industry. Medicinal plants are affected by many factors such as climate and environment in the process of growth and development. In recent years, with the in-depth study of microorganisms in the phytosphere (including rhizosphere and phyllosphere) and their interactions with plants, new ideas and methods have been provided for improving the content of active ingredients in medicinal plants and the quality of Chinese herbal medicines. In recent years, more and more studies have been reported on the effects of microbial fertilizers with plant growth-promoting bacteria as the main functional bacteria on the growth and development of medicinal plants and the quality improvement of Chinese herbal medicines. It is mainly on the research of using microbial fertilizers to increase the yield of medicinal plants and increase the biomass of medicinal plants. However, there are few reports on the diversity of rhizosphere and phyllosphere microorganisms of medicinal plants and the effects of plant growth-promoting bacteria on the accumulation of secondary metabolites of medicinal plants. In this paper, the effects of plant growth-promoting bacteria on rhizosphere microorganisms of medicinal plants, the interaction between microorganisms in phytospheres and medicinal plants, and the research progress on the accumulation of active ingredients in medicinal plants were reviewed. Suggestions were put forward for the regulation of microbial community in plant circle, improving the health of medicinal plants and the quality of Chinese herbal medicine products.
