AbstractAn efficient synthetic protocol was developed for the formation of tetracyclic tetrahydro‐β‐carbolines using a p‐toluenesulfonic acid‐mediated reaction of β‐enaminones and acetylenedicarboxylates. Highly functionalised tetracyclic tetrahydro‐β‐carboline derivatives were synthesised under one‐pot reaction conditions, in which two C−C and one C−N bonds were sequentially formed.
