POETICS IN MALVERN HILLS BY KAZUO ISHIGURO

The paper is devoted to the study of poetic features of the story by Kazuo Ishiguro "Malvern Hills". Various aspects of the poetics of the work are consistently analyzed in this paper. At the chronotope level, both reoccurring characteristics for the author's prose (the combination of disparate chronological layers) and atypical ones (adherence to the realistic logic of reproducing time and space) are revealed. Much attention in the work is paid to the study of the figurative system of the story. This is drawn on the fact that the features of its representation impart the features of romantic prose about artists to the text. In addition, due to the originality of the system of images in the poetics of Malvern Hills, properties that bring the story closer to the genre of artistic biography are manifested. It is noted that a special place in the poetics of the work belongs to the contrast used by the author in building the system of his characters. In addition, the contrast is associated with the artistic coverage of many conceptual issues raised by Kazuo Ishiguro. It is concluded that the poetics of Malvern Hills is characterized by a combination of features of literature of different genres and eras, which partly corresponds to the experimental nature of the Nocturnes collection.
