A Study To Compare The Accuracy Of Interpupillary Distance Measured Using Interpupillary Distance Ruler With That Of Neidek Autorefractometer

The purpose of this study is to compare the accuracy of interpupillary distance (IPD) measured using an Interpupillary distance (IPD) ruler with that of a needed auto refractometer. The validity of both the test are compared and normal data for each individual were established. To assess the accuracy of Interpupillary distance measured using IPD ruler with that of Neidek auto refractometer. The IPD is a very cardial measurement that had to be calculated for patients with spectacle corrections before selecting frames. A cross-sectional study involving 150 subjects was conducted in the OPD of the Department of Ophthalmology in a Medical college in Chennai. Interpupillary distances had been measured using the IPD ruler and the Neidek auto refractometer, during a period of 3 months.IPD measurements from 150 subjects were obtained using IPD ruler and Neidek auto refractometer. From the study, it was found that there is a no significant difference between the IPD measured using IPD ruler with that of Neidek auto refractometer. IPD measured using IPD ruler is accurate to the IPD measured using Neidek auto refractometer.
