Factors Affecting of Millennials Employees' Dissent and Its Subsequent Impact on Their Commitment
View through CrossRef
There is a dearth of literature on Factors leading to employee commitment. However, for Millennials, unable to express their dissent might be more detrimental for commitments as compared to monetary benefits. This dissent expressed to management could lead to resignation or active circumvention. Hence, we proposed a theoretical framework explaining how dissent expression comes into play in the relationship between incentives and commitment. We hypnotize that incentives, benefits, and job responsibilities of Y-generation employees, positively affect dissent expression. Higher dissent expression subsequently impacts Millennials' job commitment. Dissent expression is measured by whether employee threaten to resign, cause circumvention, become pro-social, and how much repetition is caused in their issues in the industrial sector of Karachi. Empirical validity was established by conducting a survey using a close-ended questionnaire. Data were collected from 200 respondents and analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis and structured equation modeling. The main target audience in this research was working people who are currently employed and millennials were focused on data collection. Results showed that there is a positive impact of job satisfaction on employee commitment. It concludes that if the employees are satisfied with their job they will more likely to be committed and productive. Result also showed Job responsibilities negatively impact Threatening resignation. If the issues of employees are not addressed timely, they will either threaten to resign or either raise their voices against the issue. The study, however, could found a significant mediating effect of the decent expression on incentive and commitment nexus.
