Markove sablasti

View through CrossRef
After reminding of the 120th anniversary of Marko Ristić’s birth (1902–1984), which was ignored, the paper discusses the principal aspiration of the historical avant-gar-des – to fuse the artistic and social revolutions – from the perspective of Yugoslav experien-ce, yet taking into account the broader context and drawing upon philosophical, philologi-cal and political “return to Marx” as performed by Jacques Derrida (1930–2004) in his 1993 book Spectres de Marx. The aesthetic ideology and cultural policies of Belgrade surrealism, and its peculiarities with respect to global avant-garde traditions are analysed starting from a revised understanding of the so-called conflict on the literary Left. Closing remarks deal with the current status of this heritage, its meaning for contemporary art and the contem-porary Left, as well as future intellectual and political interventions that are based on this heritage.
