A Review of Ethiopia Unbound by J. E. Casely-Hayford
View through CrossRef
The article focused on the ideas and views of Joseph Ephraim Casely-Hayford in his book, "Ethiopia Unbound (1911)". The article explored how relevant the book is to African Intellectual History — the study of intellectuals, ideas, and intellectual patterns over time — by employing critical discourse analysis. Critical discourse analysis is used in examining the relevance of the understudied literature to African Intellectual History because it focuses on the purpose and effect of different types of language, how language is related to the historical context, and how the author communicated values, beliefs, and assumptions.
