Arhimandritul Pavle Kenghelaț (1766–1834) – cu ocazia împlinirii a 250 de ani de la nașterea sa / The Archimandrite Pavle Kenghelaţ (1766–1834)

Pavle Kendjelac was born in town Kikinda, on june 29, 1766. He spent his childhood in his native town where he finished primary education in 1779. For the next six years, he worked as a shop apprentice and assistant in towns od Szeged, Buda and Szekesfehervar. After that experience he continued his secondary school education in towns of Kezmark, Bratislava and Sopron which he completed studies of filosophy. After that he studied law and natural science in Halle. After the completion od this studies, he returned in Kikinda and visited or pent some time in nine European countries in his travels. The biscop Petar Petrovics of Timisoara, using the situation convinced him to become a monk and one of the great person od ilumination in Banat. His most important work „The suty of Nature” and „The World history”, encompasses the contemporary knowledge from the end of the 18 century, and made him a serious historiam. In his lifetime Kendjelac was vehemently harassed, discriminated against and obstructed in his attempts, it is obvious today that his nature study makes him the most significant scient od the first half of 19 century in the Banat region.
