Copy in plaster acquired in 1897 and cast on an original, roman sculpture made in the style of the Greek, Late Classical sculpture Lysippos, found in Emperor Hadrian’s villa outside Rome in 1790. It was purchased by the 1.st Marquess of Landsdowne, who negotiated the peace with the Americans during the War of Independence. It is now on American hands, at The Getty Villa, Malibu, California.
