Χωρίς τίτλο
View through Europeana Collections
In this series of photographs by Yang Yonglang, in which fragments of the ancient Greek classical heritage are depicted, the artist's influences from ancient traditional cultures are evident. His visit to Greece, especially the Acropolis of Athens and the surrounding area, brings back memories of the ancient cities of China, a country with a correspondingly magnificent culture.
The artist depicts fragments of columns and capitals, wanting to emphasize marble as a material that bears witness to a flourishing older age. He creates, however, with the various techniques of new media digital montages in which elements of the modern city emerge, wanting to blend the old with the new, the ancient with the modern city, emphasizing their similarities and differences but at the same time seeking to show their evolution.
