EXPLORING THE LINK BETWEEN STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE MANAGEMENT AND NON-FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF INSURANCE COMPANIES IN NIGERIA

This study was conducted to examine the impact of strategic intelligence management on the non-financial performance of insurance companies in south east, Nigeria. Survey research design was adopted in carrying out the study. Population of the study was 77. This number was made up of all middle and senior level employees of the insurance companies that were studied in the South East Zone of Nigeria. The entire population was used as the sample size owing to its small number. Primary data was the major source of data for the study. Questionnaire was the instrument of data collection. In order to guide the respondents in answering these questions, 5- point Likert -scale scoring format was used. Findings revealed that business intelligence showed an adjusted R2 of 0.339, while knowledge management had an adjusted R2 of 0.325. This implies that business intelligence and knowledge management have a significant positive influence on non financial performance of insurance companies in the South East Zone of Nigeria. It was concluded that business intelligence and knowledge management can determine non financial performance of insurance companies in the South East Zone of Nigeria. As recommendations, insurance companies in South East Zone of Nigeria should apply business intelligence in strategic decision making through the use of current tools in information gathering and processing. Equally, management of insurance companies in South East Zone of Nigeria should encourage knowledge management by integrating same and making it an important practice to promote a culture of learning. By doing this, performance can positively be influenced.
