Surgical correction of a short nose with deficiency of the caudal part of the nasal septum

View through CrossRef
Objective. To develop the technique for nasal septum lengthening and correction of a short nose with stable postoperative result via suturing of a rib autologous graft with caudal part of nasal septum. Material and methods. We performed 17 primary or reconstructive rhinoseptoplasty procedures between February 2021 and December 2022. Nasal septum lengthening was achieved via suturing of a rib autologous graft with caudal part of nasal septum by continuous figure-of-eight suture in three, four or five turns vertically. All patients were female, mean age was 33 (26—40) years. Results. There were no early and late postoperative complications. Length of the nose, height and optimal projection of its terminal part were restored. We obtained expectable aesthetic results. Conclusion. Original technique of nasal septum lengthening via suturing of a rib autologous graft with caudal part of nasal septum by continuous figure-of-eight suture in three, four or five turns vertically makes it possible to restore nasal cavity, aesthetics of its terminal part and prevents postoperative complications.
