Sebuah aktivitas pastoral tentu memiliki langkah-langkah yang tersusun yang memberikan pedoman bagaimana suatu kegiatan pastoral dapat dikerjakan dengan baik. Artikel ini bukanlah hendak memberikan sebuah langkah pastoral yang baru; namun, artikel ini ingin meyodorkan sebuah instrumen pastoral yang seringkali diabaikan ketika seorang pekerja pastoral sudah terjun langsung dalam dunia pelayanan. Instrumen itu adalah Reflektive Practice;sebuah cara yang membantu seorang pekerja pastoral untuk melihat kerangka kerja pastoral bukan hanya sekedar sebuah aktivitas yang dikerjakan namun juga sebuah hidup yang harus direfleksikan. Reflektive Practice membantu pekerja pastoral untuk bukan hanya mengevaluasi proses aktivitas pastoral melainkan juga mencari makna/nilai bagi hidup pekerja pastoral sendiri. Melakukan sesuatu tanpa mengenal maknanya justru akan menjerumuskan orang pada aktivisme belaka.
