Fyrri liður ful- í orðinum julkobbi verður settur í samband við lýsingarorðið fúlur, javnlikt við fúl- í fúlmár, íslendska orðinum fyri »havhest « (»náta«); ætlað verður, at tað sipar til, at hesin fuglur spýr frá sær, og at orðið upprunaliga hevur verið nýtt um drunnhvíta. Seinni liður -kobbi (ella -kubbi) verður mettur at merkja okkurt »kubbut« ella »stumput«. karka-, fyrri liður í lundanevninum karkarassur (viðhvørt karkarakkw ella karkareyði) sipar til ljóðið, ið lundin gevur frá sær. Orðið náti (hendir seg náta) verður sett í isamband við ísl. hnáta, »lítil, køggut genta«, skilt við hnat, »nipil«, o. o. og skuldi sostatt upprunaligabert verið nýtt um ungan.
