Biosocial Aspects of Social Class

View through CrossRef
Abstract What is social class? Are class differences declining? This volume explores social class from three distinct but related perspectives: Sociological, demographic, and biological. A sociologist provides his conceptualization of social class, and examines the variety of class schema and the reliability and the validity of these schemata . Demographers then analyse the extent and causes of fertility, marriage, and mortality differences. Finally a biologist reflects on morbidity differentials, the extent and effects of migration, and the question of whether or not genetic differences exist between classes.
